There can never be too many knitted toys, especially if they are cute and touching rabbits or hares, which can be symbols of the Easter holidays or New Year (according to the Chinese calendar), and a wonderful interior decoration, and a wonderful gift, or just a favorite toy for a child.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a skilled knitting artist, you will definitely be able to knit a funny little bunny. And given the abundance of possible options for crafts and ideas for creating them, everyone will be able to choose a master class with a detailed description to their liking.

Depending on what kind of hare you want to knit, you will need different materials and other details necessary for the work process. However, their general set looks approximately the same:

  • a variety of yarn (wool, cotton, acrylic, for a fluffy bunny choose mohair) of any thickness and color;
  • a set of knitting needles of different sizes;
  • threads in the color of yarn and a needle, scissors;
  • filler (cotton wool, padding polyester, padding polyester, holofiber, natural materials such as dried beans or buckwheat);
  • artificial eyes or beads (if you are planning a toy for a baby, then it is better to embroider the bunny’s eyes and face with thread);
  • if a hare or rabbit is knitted into clothes, we select additional material for this;
  • accessories or other details as desired (ribbons, bows, buttons, decorations, etc.).

First, you should decide on the appearance of the future knitted bunny. In the descriptions of some master classes you can find a lot of interesting things: knitting toys in parallel with knitting needles and crochets, knitted products with textile inserts (for example, a hare can have fabric ears or an insert on the tummy), creating tiny animals or large ones, in the style of mime or primitives, in the form of pillows, for decorating a table or interior, and these are not all possible options.

Having been inspired by them, you will probably want to knit not just one bunny, but a whole family, especially since there are wonderful examples in chic master classes from Alan Dart and other masters.

Simple master class

When everything is ready to go, you can start knitting. If you are a beginner needlewoman, then you should first consider the simplest options and study master classes with very detailed, step-by-step descriptions, so that the process of creating crafts will be a pleasure for you. So, we knit a small, simple rabbit.

  1. We make a blank - we knit a square from the selected yarn (calculate the size based on what you want the product to be) - cast on twenty-eight loops and knit thirty-four rows in garter stitch or stockinette stitch.
  2. When the square is ready, close the loops. Take a needle and thread of a contrasting color and sew the resulting fabric, basting a triangle at the top of the square with wide stitches.
  3. Do not cut the thread - it will need to be pulled together. This will be your bunny's head. Fill it with filler and pull the thread tightly, forming a head. Sew the ears without filling them. Then sew up the back of the animal and finally fill the body. When finished, sew the product with a blind stitch.
  4. The tail can be made from a pompom or the same filler (or knitted additionally). Straighten the ears and sew or embroider the rabbit's eyes and nose. That's it. If you knit two little rabbits and sew them together, you will get cute lovebirds.

As you can see, such a rabbit is knitted with knitting needles very simply and quickly. Then you can move on to more complex products.

Knitted tilde bunnies turn out to be interesting. Other toys are also knitted according to their principle: all the parts are created separately, then stuffed and assembled together. Although the head and body can be whole, that is, first we knit the head, fill it with filler, make a tightening and continue to knit the body with a thread from the head. Additionally, arms, legs, ears and a tail are knitted, then we attach everything, decorate the muzzle and add clothes, shoes and other accessories if desired.

Please note that you can choose the option of creating a toy, in which the clothes will need to be knitted separately (you can come up with any image for the craft - perhaps it will be a fashionista girl in a beautiful dress or a handsome gentleman in a suit, do not forget about hats, hats, outerwear, etc.), or knit a bunny, simply changing the colors of the yarn, which will be the designation of one or another wardrobe detail, as, for example, in the master class on creating a bunny in a sweater from “rozetka”.

Bunny in a sweater

Knitted toys are the best thing you can give to a child. Hand-made toys are not only truly exclusive, but also, importantly, absolutely safe for the baby’s health, because they are made from high-quality materials.

Hares are favorites among crocheted toys, both among children and the most needlewomen. This is explained simply: the children are happy about their new long-eared friend, and the craftswomen are happy about the relative simplicity of its implementation. Let’s say right away that with the right skill, any medium-sized hare can be tied in one evening. Knitting soft toys is also available for those who are just getting acquainted with crocheting, because to start making a hare you just need to have basic knowledge of circular knitting with single crochets.

You can crochet bunnies in various ways, but the most popular are toys made using the amigurumi technique or simpler chain knitting. You can start knitting a soft bunny right now, you just need to choose a toy to your liking - we have specially prepared for you step-by-step instructions for knitting hares in both techniques.

Snow-white bunny made using chain knitting technique

A knitted bunny can become a child’s favorite toy; moreover, adults will also love it - such a big-eared animal will serve as a colorful decoration for the interior of a room made in a vintage style. You can experiment with the color of the bunny; it can be not only white, but also coffee (as in the photo in the background) or bright blue. It all depends on the scope of the craftswoman’s imagination, including the final decoration of the bunny - you can simply decorate it with a contrasting satin ribbon, or spend a little more time and knit clothes in the form of a boy’s overalls or a girl’s dress!

To knit a bunny, we need approximately 30 grams of acrylic yarn of the main color, 5 grams of black yarn, filler (synthetic fluff, holofiber), beady eyes, and hook No. 2.

Conventional abbreviations:

  • VP – air loop;
  • RLS – single crochet;
  • PS – half-column;
  • PSN – half double crochet;
  • Dc – double crochet;
  • SS – connection column.

All the details are ready, let's start assembling the bunny: with black yarn you can embroider a nose directly on the muzzle or crochet a miniature circle nose from half-columns. Next we embroider the mouth. We sew on the eye beads and tighten the muzzle a little, giving it a more realistic shape. We sew the muzzle, upper and lower legs, as well as the tail to the body. We decorate the finished toy at our discretion (add themed decorations, knitted clothes, or glue rhinestones, half beads, hearts).

Using the above pattern as a basis, you can crochet a large number of different bunnies, changing their clothes or facial expressions. And if you change, for example, the length of the upper legs, then such a bunny can make an excellent interior toy-tie-back for curtains.

Krosh from “Smeshariki” using the amigurumi technique

Knitted amigurumi toys have long conquered the whole world. Long-eared hares look incredibly cute and touching, delighting everyone around them. True, toys - cartoon characters - attract even more attention than ordinary hares made in amigurumi style. For example, the radiant rabbit Krosh from “Smeshariki” is a favorite of both kids and older children.

To tie Krosh, you need to be patient, because such a toy requires maximum perseverance and a lot of time. However, the effort spent on making Krosh will be doubly repaid with genuine children's emotions, believe me - the children's joy will know no bounds!

Well, we suggest taking a hook (No. 2 and No. 4), threads (acrylic), and try to knit Krosh with your own hands.

Bright ideas for crocheting bunnies

Delicate spring bunnies made of plush yarn, crocheted. Author of the toy - Anna Skvortsova. To create a bunny you will need YarnArt Dolce, ALIZE baby Softy and YarnArt Jean yarn.

VKontakte: Skvorushkin House vk.com/skvorushkindom

The size of the bunny is about 16 cm.

Materials and tools:

  • yarn: YarnArt Dolce 120m/100g – main yarn, ALIZE baby Softy – for the muzzle and tail, YarnArt Jeans – for decorating the nose; hooks No. 4, No. 4.5 and 5.5;
  • filler;
  • beads for eyes, strong threads for sewing them on;
  • needle, big needle.

Knitting pattern for a bunny made from plush yarn

Legend:
VP - air loop
sc - single crochet
dec – decrease, knit 2 sc together
inc – increase, knit two from one sc
ss – connecting post
(...)*n=a – n-number of repetitions of what is in brackets, a-total number of sc in the row

The head, body with lower legs, upper legs and ears are attached during the knitting process. The tail is sewn on.

We start knitting from the ears and upper legs.

Ears(2 parts), hook No. 5.5:

2. (1 sc, inc)*3 = 9
3. (2 sc, inc)*3 = 12
4. (3 sc, inc)*3 = 15
5. (4 sc, inc)*3 = 18
6-8 – 3 rows = 18
9. (4 sc, dec)*3 = 15
10-11. – 2 rows = 15
12. (3 sc, dec)*3 = 12
13-14. – 2 rows = 12
15. (2 sc, dec)*3 = 9
16-18. – 3 rows = 9
19. (1 sc, dec)*3 = 6, knit 2 sides together – 3 sc.

Upper legs(2 parts), hook No. 4.5:
1. 2 ch, 6 sc in second loop from hook
2-6. – 5 rows = 6, knit 2 sides together – 3 sc.
Cut the thread, fasten the end of the thread and hide it.

Torso and head(the upper legs and ears are attached during the knitting process), hook No. 4.5:
We start knitting from the lower left foot.
1. 2 ch, 6 sc in second loop from hook
2. (1 sc, inc)*3 = 9
3-5. – 3 rows = 9, ss, cut the thread, fasten the end of the thread
We knit the right leg in the same way, then connect:

6. ch; 9sc on the left leg; 10th sc to the base of the 1st sc on the left foot; sc in ch; 9sc on the right leg; 10th sc at the base of the 1st sc on the right foot = 22, here I recommend making a mark for the beginning of the row
7. 10 sbn, inc, 1 sbn, inc, 9 sbn = 24
8-12. – 5 rows = 24
13. (2 sc, dec)*6 = 18
14. We knit the upper legs: 5sc; 3sc, grabbing the foot; 6 sc; 3 sc, grabbing the foot, 1 sc
15. (1 sc, dec)*6 = 12
16. pr*12 = 24
17. (3 sc, inc)*6 = 30
18-21. – 4 rows = 30
22. (3 sc, dec)*6 = 24
23. (2 sc, dec)*6 = 18
24. (1 sc, dec)*5; dec – sc around the head + sc, grabbing the ear; 2sc (with eye catch); ub (on the head); 3 sc (with eye catch); then slash to the end, close the hole, cut the thread, fasten the end of the thread and hide it. If I don’t quite like the resulting arrangement of the ears, I adjust it with a needle and thread to match the color of the yarn.

Muzzle, thread in 2 folds, hook No. 4:
1. 2 ch, 6 sc in second loop from hook
2. pr*6 = 12
3. (sc, inc)*6 = 18
4. = 18
Leave the end of the thread for sewing, fasten the thread

Ponytail, thread in 2 folds, hook No. 4.5:
1. 2 ch, 6 sc in second loop from hook
2. (1 sc, inc)*3 = 9
3. 5 ub
Close the hole, leave the end of the thread for sewing, fasten the thread

Toy design:
Sew on the muzzle and tail. We embroider the nose with a large needle, sew on beady eyes, and if desired, embroider eyelashes with the same threads. Add a headband with a flower (ch chain around the circumference of the head, close in a ring, 1 row sc; flower of your choice) or a rose brooch. The rosette can be knitted according to the following pattern: (for the rosette, cast on a chain of 52 ch)

There are many ways to create a toy with your own hands. You can use baked or self-hardening plastic and fashion a doll, you can felt a toy from wool, you can sew it. But why are they so popular? crocheted toys. Although we probably shouldn’t be surprised. Knitted toys are actually very cute and evoke a whole range of warm feelings. Look at the touching face of this bunny. Isn't she wonderful? And knitting such beauty is not so difficult.

As always, at the very beginning of the master class we will decide on the tools and materials necessary for knitting a bunny:

  • Acrylic yarn 100%, 100 g/300 m, two colors. I have white and pink.
  • Hook No. 2 - for crocheting a bunny.
  • Hook No. 1.15 - for knitting a dress.
  • Yarn "Iris" for knitting a dress.
  • White wool for felting the eyes, brown for the nose, pink for the mouth.
  • Needle number 40 for felting.
  • Felting sponge or brush.
  • Eyes for soft toys.
  • Filler (sintepon).
  • Dry pastel or eye shadow to tint the toy. I used Derwent Drawing Sepia (red) 6110 pencil.
  • Brown floss for embroidering eyebrows.
  • Needle with a large eye.
  • Scissors.
  • Satin ribbon and rose for decoration.
  • Knitting a bunny head.

    The bunny's head is a crocheted ball. We will knit in a spiral without making lifting stitches at the beginning of the row. To make it more convenient to count rows when knitting, you can place a bright thread at the beginning of the row or fasten a pin.

    1st row: 2 v.p. (chain loops), then knit 6 single crochets (hereinafter - sc) in the second loop from the hook (6).

    2nd row: 6 increments (12).

    3rd row:(1 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (18).

    4th row:(2 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (24).

    5 row:(3 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (30).

    6th row:(4 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (36).

    7th row:(5 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (42).

    8th row:(6 sc, 1 increase) - 6 times (48).

    Rows 9-13: knit 1 sc in each loop (48).

    Row 14:(6 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (42).

    Row 15:(5 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (36).

    Row 16:(4 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (30).

    Row 17:(3 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (24).

    Row 18:(2 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (18).

    We fill our heads with padding polyester.

    Row 19:(1 sc, 1 decrease) - 6 times (12).

    Row 20:

    Knitting ears.

    When knitting the ears we will alternate the colors of the yarn. We will knit even rows with pink yarn, odd rows with white yarn.

    Rows 1-5: see head knitting.

    Decoration of the muzzle.

    It is advisable to design the muzzle before you sew the head to the bunny’s body. First we'll do the tightening. For this we need a thick needle with a large eye. We will tighten it with the thread with which we tied the head. We thread the thread into the needle, insert the needle into the place where the head will be attached to the body, and bring it out in the place of one of the eyes. Then we remove the needle at the location of the other eye.

    Repeat several times, tightening. Then we make a tightening in the place of the mouth (in the photo this place is indicated by an arrow). This is what should happen:

    Let's start decorating the eyes. To do this, first felt a small bunch of white wool on a sponge, giving it the shape of a ball.

    Then we attach the eye to the muzzle. Pre-tint the bunny's eyelid.

    Next we repeat the same for the second eye. Then we glue on the eyes for the soft toys. We place a small tuft of brown wool where the nose will be and a very tiny tuft of pink wool where the mouth will be located.

    We embroider the eyebrows and sew on the ears.

    Knitting a dress for a bunny.

    We will knit the dress from Iris yarn using hook No. 1.15. The knitting pattern for the dress is shown below:

    Up to the 7th row we knit a yoke. Then in the 7th row, skipping several motifs for the sleeves, we move on to knitting the skirt. The pattern of the skirt matches the pattern of the yoke, i.e. The 10th row is knitted in the same way as the 2nd. Next we knit the skirt according to the yoke pattern.

    We try on a dress for the bunny and go to a photo shoot :)
