Let the blizzard blow stronger. Winter cover guide (receiving the title Veselchak). Alliance representatives need to find

One of the biggest and most fun events in World of Warcraft starts on December 15th! As many of you have guessed, we are talking about winter cover - a time of incomparable fun, unique joy and an amazing spirit of rejoicing, filled with an atmosphere of cheerfulness and major fervor. The holiday will last until January 2 and will bring a lot of fun and, of course, gifts to Azeroth. Despite the release of Pandaria, no major changes are planned. However, it often happens that players notice some changes. If you notice something new while completing achievements, don't forget to leave a comment under this guide :).

So let's get started.

Buka
A basic achievement that requires you to throw a snowball, sold at all holiday vendors, at Bane or Muradin. The first is located in Thunder Bluff, the capital of the tauren, and the second is in Ironforge, the center of the dwarves.

To Metzen
The nasty Grinch has kidnapped Metzen, the reindeer who is the spirit of the entire festival. Your task is to kill him, thereby freeing the beast. The starting quest can be obtained in Orgrimarr or Ironforge. The Grinch himself has settled in a dark cave in the cold foothills of Hillsbrad close to the west. For completing the task, you are given a stolen gift, which, as you understand from the name, will contain either pets or the resources necessary to purchase seasonal items.

Oh that Grinch
To get this achievement, you must complete the continuation of the previous task (related to the return of treats to Smoky Forest Pastures and receiving gratitude from those who were helped). The task is handed over to Grandfather Winter. Within a short time, you will be sent via mail a Grakka Cupcake with meat and fruit, as well as a kit for changing your winter cover. Don’t rush to indulge in good things - these little things will soon come in handy.

Hot dances
A very simple achievement. Your task is to go to Dalaran, find a fellow snowman, use the dressing kit to become a snowman yourself, and, in fact, have a fiery dance :). It is recommended to complete it in the first days of the event, as this gives you the opportunity to simultaneously work on the Let the Blizzard Strike Harder achievement.

Let the blizzard blow stronger
The achievement is essentially elementary, but when it comes down to it, it turns out that this is not entirely true :). In any case, completing this achievement takes some time. Your task is to please the festive tavern workers with a kiss (macro /kiss), get a handful of snowflakes for this and throw it into combinations of some races and classes.

  • Man Warrior
  • Night Elf Druid
  • Troll Hunter
  • Dwarf Paladin
  • Draenei Priest
To the Alliance:
  • Orc Death Knight
  • Tauren Shaman
  • Undead Rogue
  • Gnome Mage
  • Blood Elf Warlock
Gifts only for obedient children
Let's move on to one of the most interesting parts - opening gifts hidden under the capital's Christmas trees. Unfortunately, access to them will only appear on December 25th. This year, the developers have added several new “fun” items: a thick leather ball and a soccer ball. Pets are still on the list of possible gifts to receive, but the earnings from them will no longer be so great. Alas, alas.

With some help from my friends...
With the help of a miraculous machine, turning into a cute gnome, you will have to win 50 honorable kill victories on the battlefield. The achievement is often obtained in one go on Alterac. Transformation into Grandfather Winter's assistant is carried out in the following places:
  • Orgrimmar - near the zeppelin tower towards Undercity / Thundergol
  • Ironforge - outside the main gate
  • Undercity - near the zeppelin tower towards Orgrimmar / Thundergol
  • Stormwind - near the entrance to the flight master
  • Tanaris - in the east of Primbambasca
  • Pirate's Cove - at the docks
  • Shattrath - in the east of the city in Terrokar
  • Dalaran - in the city center
Fearless Warbler
The execution is as follows: wearing a colorful Winter Veil sweater, you must sing a couple of holiday songs in all enemy capitals. Singing is accomplished through the use of the sweater itself, since it is the sweater that has the built-in ability to do so. The sweater can be found in gifts from under the Christmas tree.

La-la-la-Ogrila
First of all, you need to go to Ostrogorye. A small community of ogres, approximately located at coordinates 28.57, will ask you to eliminate the Burning Legion camp. Give them a hard time one more time! - this is the quest they will give you. The point is that you will have to carry out merciless genocide in a vehicle. Moreover, it’s festive. To make it festive, you need to use dried or fresh holly, which is sold at holiday vendors or obtained through kisses sent to hotel workers.

Winter days
Your task is to enjoy a Grakku cake with meat and fruit while wearing a festive attire (the achievement requires the presence of three items: red or green winter clothes, boots and a New Year's hat). If the first two things can be easily purchased at auction or asked to be sewn by a tailor, then getting a hat is a little more difficult. Caps drop in current bosses of heroic dungeons.

Winter treats
Fans of Pilgrim's Feast can rejoice in the presence of this achievement. Your task is to prepare three festive dishes:

Recipes are sold at holiday vendors. To make it, I recommend stocking up on the following:

  • Festive drinks, 2 pcs. - sold by traders;
  • Carbonated apple cider, 1 pc. - sold by traders;
  • Holiday spices, 3 pcs. - sold by traders;
  • Small egg, 2 pcs. - obtained from dragonhawks in the Woods of Eternal Song / Owlwolves in Auberdine.
By the way, about small eggs. This is a seasonal method of obtaining gold. They drop in bunches from the cubs of the furious dragonhawk, and their price at auction is quite decent. I recommend reading what I wrote last year.

Fraternal greeting
The achievement requires you to visit your faction brothers and give them a friendly touch with a sprig of mistletoe. Mistletoe is obtained with the help of the same kisses sent to festive tavern workers.

Brothers of the Horde

  • Brother Malakh in the Undercity;
  • Brother Keltan in Icecrown;
  • Durkot Brother Wolf in Warsong Fortress.
Brothers of the Alliance
  • Brother Nimez in Stranglethorn;
  • Brother Carman in Theramore;
  • Brother Joshua in Stormwind;
  • Brother Cassius in Stormwind;
  • Brother Wilhelm in Goldshire;
  • Brother Christophe in Stormwind;
  • Brother Crowley in Stormwind;
  • Brother Benjamin in Stormwind.
For the exact location, I recommend checking out WowHead.com. By the way, about the Alliance brothers. The need for a visit to everyone is constantly changing - there are sometimes more brothers, sometimes fewer. Some say that one of the brothers is no longer needed, others insist on something else. There are still 8 brothers on WowHead, but during the holiday, I believe their number will change. Please write about any changes you notice in the comments.

That's all, actually. As you can see, the achievements are not difficult - after all, the main goal of the festival is not to burden the player with difficult and incomprehensible tasks, but to provide an opportunity to have fun. Good luck!

This is a simple and very fun achievement for which we need to complete a short quest chain. The initial quest is taken from the stag, which can be found in Ironforge in front of the bank or in Orgrimmar before the auction. According to the quest, you will have to go to Tanaris or to the Scorched Gorges.

With some help from my friends...

In order to complete this achievement, you need to dress up as a winter gnome. Conversion installations can be found:

  • Orgrimmar - near the zeppelin tower towards Undercity / Thundergol
  • Ironforge - outside the main gate
  • Undercity - near the zeppelin tower towards Orgrimmar / Thundergol
  • Stormwind - near the entrance to the flight master
  • Tanaris - in the east of Primbambasca
  • Pirate's Cove - at the docks
  • Shattrath - in the east of the city in Terrokar
  • Dalaran - in the city center

When you transform into a Dwarf, you need to get 50 honorable kills. To do this, it is best to go to OLO or Alterac. While in a vehicle you can also get honorable kills and will be much less likely to die. Remember that if you die, you can always put on your Dwarf outfit again and continue the quest.

Druids should also note that entering the form causes the suit to be reset. I'll have to suffer =)

Buka

You need to throw a snowball at the Horde/Alliance leader depending on your faction. For the Horde it will be Cairn, for the Alliance it will be Magni Bronzebeard. There is nothing complicated, snowballs are sold at all holiday NPCs in cities.

La-la-la-Ogrila

You need to complete the task Give them a hard time once again! sitting on a festive deer. Please note that players are no longer required to complete a lengthy quest line for Ogril's faction to gain access to the quest. You can find the quest you are looking for at coordinates 28.57 in Ostrogorye.

After accepting the quest, you need to mount and use Dried Holly (in case you have already freed Metzen) or Fresh Holly (which can be obtained by using the emote/kiss on NPCs in capitals)

Winter days

First you will need clothes. It can be created by tailors or leatherworkers using recipes. Recipes are sold from holiday NPCs and cost mere pennies. To achieve this you need Red Winter Clothes or Green Winter Clothes (requires 250 sewing). And also Winter Boots (requires 285 Leatherworking). In addition, you can always purchase them at auction, although the prices will be steep at first.

The final part of the costume is the cap. According to tradition, caps drop from bosses in instances, and therefore we will have to go into the dungeons. The Red New Year's Cap drops from Telestra in the Nexus or Jedogi from Ankahet, while the Green New Year's Cap is dropped by Mage-Lord Ur from the Oculus. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no exact confirmation of the drop locations of the caps, so it may change with the start of the event.

You will receive the Grakku cupcake with meat and fruit some time after rescuing Metzen. Get dressed, eat and - voila! Achievement.

Oh that Grinch

It all starts with the short line Lost Winter's Veil Treat, which you can pick up in Orgrimmar or Ironforge. You will be sent to the Wonderful Snowman, located at 35.72 in Alterac Valley, who will immediately ask you to kill a certain Abominable Grinch. Although the mob's respawn rate is very fast, it will be very difficult to spawn it before other adventurers. As always, best time To perform such achievements - late at night or early in the morning.

After killing and loot the quest item, talk to Snowman and then return to the quest starter in Ironforge or Orgrimmar.

Let the blizzard blow stronger!

This is one of those achievements that doesn't need to be explained, but is so hard to do. You will receive a handful of snowflakes when using the emotion/kiss on NPCs in taverns. After that, go in search of the desired class-racial combinations =)

Fortune will help you!

Brotherly Greetings (Alliance) and (Horde)

You need to find the indicated mobs and touch them with a sprig of mistletoe. We get mistletoe using the method indicated above - we kiss everything =).

For the Alliance:

  • Brother Nimez of Stranglethorn
  • Brother Anton from Desoleys
  • Brother Carman of Theramore
  • Brother William of Goldshire
  • Brothers from Stormwind - the remaining brothers can be found in the Cathedral, location 55,54

For the Horde:

  • Brother Malach of the Undercity
  • Durkot Wolf Brother from Warsong Fortress in the Borean Tundra
  • Brother Keltan aboard Orgrim's Hammer in Icecrown

Winter treats

Thanks to the great opportunity to level up Cooking at Pilgrim's Bounty, this achievement should be very easy. You need to make Gingerbread Cookies, Eggnog and Hot Apple Cider. Cooking recipes are sold by holiday vendors in Ironforge and Orgrimmar.

In total, you will need a small amount of reagents, which are mainly sold by holiday NPCs. Only small eggs can cause the problem. They can be easily knocked out from low-level bird-like creatures in the starting locations of any race.

Gifts only for obedient children

A great achievement not only because of the achievement points, but also because of the opportunity to make great money. You just need to find the gifts under the tree and get them. Please note that this year there will most likely be new non-combat pets or other fun items.

Also, gifts can give you some really cool items, which I earned about 5000 gold from last year. I’ll most likely tell you more in one of my posts =)

Hot dances

To complete this achievement you will need the Winter Veil Conversion Kit and a snowball. You receive the desired set by mail after completing the quest for the Grinch. Snowballs can be purchased from holiday vendors. After receiving all this splendor, we go to Dalaran and dance there with other snowmen.

If at first there is no end to those interested, then closer to the end of the holiday, there will probably be cunning guys who want to sell the “dance” for n-tat gold. Therefore, I recommend doing this achievement as quickly as possible.

Winter Veil is a seasonal holiday in World of Warcraft dedicated to the New Year. It takes place from December 16 to January 2 every year. This Winter Veil guide will tell you about the tasks, achievements and costumes of this holiday, as well as about the gifts of Grandfather Winter.

For crafting you will need 4x Bolt of Runecloth, Bolt of Wool, Rune Thread and Dye: 2x Red Dye or 2x Green Dye
  • Feet: Pattern: Winter Boots are sold by Smokywood Pastures merchants and can also be found by some leatherworkers at the post office (after opening a gift). You need to use a sprig of mistletoe on all the “brothers” of the Winter Veil. There are three of them for the Horde, eight for the Alliance. Mistletoe can be obtained by /kissing a Winter Veil Reveler (usually found in taverns).

Where to find the brothers of the Horde and Alliance in Winter Veil:

To change appearance your flying mount on a reindeer, you need to use Fresh Holly or Dried Holly on it, which are given for /kiss of the Winter Veil Reveler or for completing tasks. These items can also be purchased at auction.

The achievement is given for completing the quest Cool Sense of Humor (Alliance Version).

This achievement is given for completing a chain of tasks starting with the quest

:)

With the onset of winter in Azeroth comes the time for celebrations - World of Warcraft celebrates the Festival of Winter Veil, cities and villages are transformed, dressing up in multi-colored garlands, and players hold mass celebrations with the beating of yetis and the opening of gifts. Since Winter Veil is good holiday, you don't even have to farm holiday currency, which isn't even here, so you can just have fun and farm gifts.

Winter Veil Quests

Of course, you don’t have to do quests, but over there the Grinch stole your gift right from under the tree, and that Yeti even has a mount in his bins somewhere – don’t let such behavior go unnoticed!

First you need to say hello to Grandfather Winter - was it in vain that he tried and covered Azeroth with a blanket of snow? Grandfather Winter welcomes everyone in Ironforge and Orgrimmar, and no, this is not a dwarf dressed up in a shabby doublet or an orc with a false beard.

So, you've said hello to Grandfather Winter himself, but where are the treats? As everyone knows, Grandfather loves gingerbread cookies, the recipe for which can be purchased from any nearest representative of Smoky Forest Pastures, and ice milk, which is sold in every tavern. After treating Grandfather, your gifts will undoubtedly be better than others.

Now it's time to open gifts! Just go to all the marked boxes under the tree and open them - you will probably find many pleasant surprises.

Here's the bad luck - someone stole your gift, and even grabbed Metzen the reindeer. This, of course, was done by the Grinch, who lives in a cold cave in the Hillsbrad Foothills - you should visit there and show the scoundrel that stealing other people's gifts is not good, especially from a heavily armed adventurer. The stolen gift will be your reward.

Maybe you'd like some holly? Local holly is capable of turning mounts into reindeer, but not everyone can get it, but only anyone who brings deep rock salt and 5 gold coins to the holly dryer next to the holiday tree. Salt is usually sold by tanner supply vendors.

Remember when you saved Metzen the reindeer? So, for this you will receive a special gift straight from the hands of Grandfather Winter. Yes, it has a goblin seal on it, but you can find a lot of interesting things inside.

But on Draenor there is no Grandfather Winter, but there is Grumpy, who really likes to ruin everyone’s holiday. In your garrison you can find out all the details of his atrocities, and also that for killing the villain you can buy winter decorations for your fortress.

Grumpy is so angry that he kidnaps children and then gives them bad gifts. Perhaps he also laughs in the process, but this is not yet certain. You have to correct what Grumpy did - save the children, and break the terrible gifts. In addition, there is a reward for this in the form of decorations for the garrison. Along the way, you can kill Grumpy’s assistants - Nasty grumpies are also extremely bad personalities.

You can receive all quests either in Ironforge or Orgrimmar, or in your Draenor garrison. Of course, there is nothing complicated about them, but the gifts you receive for them can hide many interesting things, which we will talk about later.

Winter Veil Achievements

P.S. if you want a discount, write to the operator before purchasing :)

Where would we be without achievements, especially on such a holiday? Obviously, nowhere.

1. Merry is the main achievement of the Winter Shroud and to get it you need to complete several others. As a reward, you get the title “Veselchak” or “Laughter”.

For this achievement you will also need Mistletoe, which can be obtained by sending /kiss to any Winter Veil Reveler from your faction's capitals. Durkot Brother of the Wolf in the Borean Tundra, 40.55.

    Brother Keltan in Icecrown travels on a Horde airship through 65.27 and 69.51.

4. Hammer and Grind – for this achievement you need any “Hit and Grind” car. Fireballs can be purchased at the toy store in Dalaran or obtained from Winter Veil gifts. After you get one, find other players with their cars and start driving your car - in this mode, use the car's acceleration to crash into other cars 25 times and the achievement will count.

5. Buka - you need to throw a snowball at Muradin Bronzebeard or Bane Bloodhoof for the achievement to count. Snowballs are sold by goblins not far from Grandfather Winter. Yes, goblins sell snow in winter.

6. Iron Armada - for this achievement you need to collect 5 Hammer and Thrash toys from the Iron Armada set. 2 toys only drop from Winter Veil gifts, but for the remaining ones you will have to go to the Tanaan Jungle. In the jungle you need to find Drakum (83.43), Gondar (80.56) and Shumm Grab (87.56), and then beat them up.

7. Hot Dancing - To get this achievement, you need to dress up as a snowman and dance with another player in a snowman costume in Dalaran. You will receive the snowman costume in the mail when you defeat the Grinch.

8. Winter days - you need to dress up in a full set of Winter Veil clothes and eat a Grakka Cupcake with meat and fruit. Cupcakes are sold from goblins next to the winter tree, but clothes will be more difficult to find - part of the set can be bought at an auction or sewed yourself if you are a tailor or leatherworker, and the cap can be found from some current bosses in dungeons. To find out if the boss has a cap, just look at his head - there should actually be a cap there.

9. Winter treats - to get this achievement, simply cook all the winter dishes, the recipes for which are sold by the goblins near the Christmas tree.

10. To Metzen! – for this achievement you just need to save Metzen the Reindeer by completing the corresponding quest.

11. Oh, that Grinch... - complete the task of rescuing Metzen the reindeer, take your stolen gift, then complete the task to receive gratitude from Grandfather Winter, and then the achievement will be counted.

12. Gifts only for obedient children! – find gifts under the tree and open at least one of them, then the achievement will be counted.

13. La-la-la, Ogri'la - for this achievement you will have to go to Outland and find Ogri'la in Blade's Edge Mountains (29.59). Once you get there, complete the required quest and get the achievement. If you've never been there, you'll first need to complete Ogri'La's main questline to unlock the local dailies.

14. Danger Zone - You will need the Hammer Bomb Thrower, which randomly drops from gifts under the tree. Once you have the toy, use it to control the bomb thrower and shoot down another player's bomb thrower to get the achievement.

15. Let the blizzard blow harder! – you need to find all the characters indicated in the achievement and shower them with snowflakes. Handfuls of snowflakes are given to you by Winter Veil Revelers, but to do this you need to kiss them, as in the achievement with the “brothers”. The easiest way to find the necessary characters is either in the capitals or in the starting locations.

16. With some help from my friends... - to get this achievement, you need to turn into a little helper by finding a goblin and his frost monster in the capital of your faction. Once transformed, go to the battlefield and defeat 50 enemy players there.

17. Shoot without hitting - for this achievement you will need the Red Rider Air Carbine and ammunition, which can be purchased at the toy store in Dalaran. Armed with a carbine, you need to go to enemy capitals and shoot there with a carbine at the leaders of the enemy faction.

18. – this great feat could be obtained by all players who took out the Endothermic Blaster toy from the gifts under the Christmas tree during the Winter Veil 2016. Previously, this achievement was associated with the Red Rider Carbine, but now it is also no longer available.

Winter Veil Holiday Items

Most of the holiday items during the Winter Veil celebration are obtained exclusively from gifts that lie under the tree or are knocked out from the Grinch and Grumpy. Items come in a wide variety of items, including both toys and enchantment illusions for transmog.

27. DIY: Snowman - This item allows you to summon a pet snowman, but at any time other than Winter Veil, it melts as soon as you do so.

28. Coal Lump – another pet, this time a combat one. It's rare, but nothing else special.

29. Endothermic blaster - with this toy you can release a stream of cold air at other players and NPCs. Those caught in this blast appear slightly bluer than normal for a short time. The blaster itself is a reference to Mei from Overwatch.

30. Disposable Winter Veil Suits - When using this toy, you place a box of suits on the ground. Each player who clicks on the box is dressed in a random colored festive costume for half an hour. It can be used not only during the Winter Veil, so now the holiday will be all year round.

31. Rod of Holiday Fun - When you use this item, you select an area and all players with NPCs in that area begin to laugh.

32. Clockwork Rocketbot is another pet that drops randomly from gifts. This pet was previously a unique reward for participating in the 2007 Winter Veil celebration, but is now dropped by everyone in a recolored form.

33. Mini airship control panel - when using this toy, you summon a small airship, which you begin to control for a while.

34. Green Rag Doll and Blue Rag Doll - When you use this toy, a small rag doll appears on the ground and lies where you put it. Yes, that's all.

35. The Red Rider Air Carbine is not a toy, but with this item you can shoot players and NPCs with virtually no damage bullets.

36. Clockwork Train Wrecker and Toy Railroad - the first toy summons a small clockwork gnome when used. If you use a second toy, the gnome will start rowing and destroying the railroad, which will ultimately make him very happy.

37. Flame of Ragnaros is another illusion enchant weapon. Like some other Winter Shroud items, it can also drop from the boss - in this case, Ragnaros.

What else to do during Winter Veil

Having opened access to the Broken Isles in general and to Highmountain in particular, Azeroth learned that Grandfather Winter sometimes descends from the mountains on his sleigh and then cuts through Highmountain. If you manage to catch up with him and talk, he will personally congratulate you on the upcoming holiday and give you several useful things. Grandfather Winter appears every hour here - 50, 79, after which he moves throughout the entire location at high speed.

Ironforge, Orgrimmar, and Dalaran now have a huge snow globe that you can freely enter during Winter Veil. Once in the ball, you turn into a goblin or gnome and begin to float in the air. At the same time, unique music is played, added to World of Warcraft only in 2016.

That's all that Winter Veil has to offer you now. We hope that this guide was useful to you.

The most difficult task will be finding a dwarf paladin, it seems to me. But that doesn't compare to the absurdity of finding a dwarf rogue for Pilgrim's Bounty. Be that as it may, the Horde and Alliance are more populated in their main cities than they were before when we were lost in Shatrath and Dalaran. You can try combining this achievement with Hot Dances, trying to dance with members of the opposing faction. Otherwise, Battlefields, Tol Barad, or simply enemy cities/locations will help you complete the achievement with ease.

Also, gifts from past holiday years can be put to good use. For example, the Red Rider Carbine since 2007 can be used to obtain the BB King achievement for the Alliance and for the Horde. By the way, an alternative to this carbine is sold at toy sellers in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. BB King is a required achievement during Winter Veil, but Fearless Warbler is optional.

Hot dances

Sounds pretty straight forward, but you will need 3 objects:

  • Another snowman who wants to dance in Dalaran.

Yes, you will need to fly to Dalaran for this.

Getting the Dress Up Kit is pretty easy - it's an unannounced reward for Rugrats... , so just wait a day after completing the achievement and you'll see the Winter Veil Dress Up Kit in the mail. Snowballs, as I said earlier, can be bought from Winter Veil merchants or from snowdrifts around the world, and also drop from Hildean trophies. Finding the second snowman during the Dalaran holiday is easy during the first days of the holiday, but their number will decrease over time, so it is better to try to get the achievement at the beginning rather than at the end of the holiday. I remember that on my realm there are some good people stood near the bank and danced the whole night, letting others get the achievement. This is the end of the guide, I hope you found it interesting.
