You baked a delicious, aromatic cake, but like a real housewife, you set out to make not only the taste attractive, but also the appearance of the baked goods. The question naturally arises: how to achieve this goal at home, especially if you are tired of butter, protein cream, chocolate, mastic and other delicious decorations? Today Culinary Eden will tell you more about decorating cakes with fruits.

Making your cake not only tasty, but also bright, colorful and always natural is the dream of any housewife. So why not use natural ingredients for decoration? Decorating cakes with fruits and berries will not only help you create a beautiful design, but will also bring new taste, aroma and color to your cake.

To create your own, unlike anything else, original decoration you will need imagination, fruits of various colors, sizes, shapes and contents, a thin sharp knife, metal baking dishes and a small round ice cream spoon.

One of the most beautiful ways decorating cakes with fruits dipped in jelly. A dessert decorated in this way is sure to be bright, eye-catching, beautiful, and simply very tasty. And making it so is not so difficult. First you need to know how to prepare the jelly itself.

Jelly with fruits

Ingredients:
600 ml apple juice
1 pack of gelatin
½ tbsp. raspberries
2 pcs. kiwi
1 banana
½ tbsp. strawberries
2 tangerines
1 tbsp. powdered sugar

Preparation:

Preparation of fruit jelly:
Pour a package of gelatin into the container in which we will prepare the jelly and fill it with a small amount of apple juice, leave for a while so that the gelatin swells. At this time, wash and peel fruits and berries. We divide the tangerines into slices and peel them from the membranes, then it will look brighter and the jelly will become juicier. We cut the kiwi into circles or semicircles, the banana into cubes, and the strawberries into slices about 3 mm wide.

Place the container on low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the gelatin is completely dissolved, then add the remaining juice and powdered sugar. After the jelly is ready, strain it into any suitable container. Now you will need a container that is shaped like the cake. Place fruits and berries in it, pour in jelly and put in the refrigerator, preferably for a day.

Ready-made jelly can only be used to decorate a cooled cake, otherwise it will begin to melt. In order not to damage the jelly and transfer it to the cake in an even layer, you need to carefully but quickly turn it over from the container onto the cake. If you don’t like the jelly edges of the cake or, despite all your efforts, they are not quite even, then you can decorate them with almond flakes or protein cream.

However, not everyone likes jelly, and if you are not a fan, but you like the idea of making a multi-colored cake without foreign additives and dyes, then use the following method. Decorate the finished cake, covered with whipped cream or egg white cream, with sliced fruit in a circle. It is not at all necessary to use fresh fruits; canned ones are also suitable; they are softer, juicier and sweeter. But it’s better to take fresh berries.

There are many options for decorating cakes in this way - from cutting fruit into slices and arranging them in a circle from the edges of the cake to the center to laying out all kinds of patterns and designs. It is good to use canned and fresh peaches, strawberries, raspberries, kiwis, tangerines, red and black currants and cherries for these purposes.

Using this method of decoration, you can make a fruit basket out of a cake. To do this, grease the finished cake well with protein cream. Cut 40-50 strawberries in half and decorate the cake with these halves along the edge, retreating 1-2 cm. Peel the kiwi, cut into semicircles and lay out the rest of the cake, except for the center. Place tangerine slices, peeled from the membrane, in the center. Now you will need sweet cookies in the form of flat sticks, you can bake them yourself or buy them in the store. We apply the cookies and press them almost effortlessly against the entire perimeter of the cake. Your Fruit Basket is ready!
Gourmets and art lovers can be invited to decorate the cake with a majestic swan carved from an apple. You are guaranteed to surprise and interest your guests in this cake. If you say that such a work of art is made quite simply, hardly anyone will believe it, so I’ll tell you in more detail. To prepare this masterpiece you will need a very thin sharp knife, a green apple (it is very important that it is not overripe), and 2 black peppercorns.

Turn the apple on its side, cut off a piece 1.5-2 cm thick and set it aside. Now place the apple cut side down and carefully use a knife to trace the bases of the wings and each wing section, making sure to maintain the same width between them. Then, just as carefully, cut out the wings along the marked lines; this is done quite simply: first the cut is made strictly vertically, and then horizontally. Be careful not to cut more than necessary, otherwise you will have to take a new apple and start all over again. Once both wings are cut, gently use your fingers to push each section out until you have wings like the one in the photo.

From the part of the apple cut off at the very beginning, cut out the head and neck of a swan, insert peppercorns in place of the eyes and attach the resulting structure to the apple. From the remaining part, just like the wings, cut out the tail and attach to the apple. To prevent the swan from becoming airy and dark, pour lemon juice over it. So, with a minimum expenditure of funds, you will get a wonderful decoration that will not go unnoticed on festive table. And perhaps, looking at this swan, you will have new ideas and themes for decorating your culinary masterpieces.

In addition to cakes, you can decorate the fruits and berries themselves, which are used to decorate desserts. For example, they can be “dressed” in chocolate. To do this you will need a berry or fruit, chocolate icing of different colors and a pastry syringe or bag of parchment paper. Dip the berry, in this case strawberry, into chocolate of the desired color and add the missing wardrobe details using a syringe or bag and chocolate of a different color. So you can not only come up with a variety of wardrobe items for fruits or berries, but also create their mood by drawing certain masks and facial expressions, arranging them in the most in different ways and creating different images and situations.

We are used to seeing flowers made from protein or butter cream on cakes, but few people have seen or made flowers from fruits, yet they look original and are made quite quickly and simply. To create a flower bouquet, you may need baking dishes of different sizes and shapes, a small ice cream spoon, toothpicks and a wide variety of berries and fruits, for example, pineapple, strawberries, melon, gooseberries, grapes.

Fruits and berries must be washed and dried, cut the pineapple and melon into rings and cut out the desired flower shape using a baking dish. You can also use melon or watermelon to create balls - flower cores. Cakes are also decorated with multi-tiered flowers, using a smaller form each time. If you don't have a spoon to make balls, you can make do with any round berry, such as grapes. It is better to use fruits and berries of different colors, then the cake will look brighter and more fun.

There are several ways to attach flowers to a cake. One of them is to use egg white cream or whipped cream. On such a base, you can simply put fruit on top, and they will stick to the surface. If you are decorating chocolate cake, then use chocolate glaze, it will stick the fruit firmly. And finally, the most beautiful and most radical way is toothpicks. String all the necessary fruits and berries on them one by one and attach them to the cake until you get a bouquet. However, we do not recommend using the latter method if children are expected to eat the cake.

Fruits, berries and jellies are rich material for your culinary experiences; they open up new horizons and provide wide scope for finding new ones, original solutions in decorating desserts.

Of course, first of all, the cake should be tasty, and only secondarily beautiful, so when choosing a method and materials for decoration, take into account their taste and combination with the cake itself. But at the same time, there is nothing truly complicated in cake design, no ingredients, no tools, no complex manual manipulations; you are limited only by the flight of your imagination and the desire to create, create and surprise.

Summertime seems to force people to choose lighter desserts, for example, a cake with berries, where the decor is made from fresh or frozen ingredients, and the biscuit taste is complemented by subtle notes of chocolate. The delicacy is incredibly tasty with the addition of cherries, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, black currants or raspberries. It is not uncommon to use more sour red currants for the filling, which adds piquancy.
